Goodyear Fuel Max Tyres Delivers Cash Savings for Consumers

18 June 2012

State-of-the-art science in Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max tyres can save consumers up to $400 over the life of the tyres by reducing fuel consumption¹
With the end of financial year looming and only a matter of weeks until the introduction of the carbon tax on July 1, Australian consumers are searching like never before for ways to save money across all aspects of their daily lives. In keeping with this, Goodyear is pleased to offer a breakthrough tyre which can significantly help to reduce the amount of fuel cars consume with its innovative fuel-efficient technology.

The Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max is designed to provide more mileage for your money, with a saving of up to $400 worth of fuel expected over the life of the tyres*.
“Up to 20 per cent of a car’s fuel consumption is due to the tyre**,” said Blake Vincent, Goodyear Marketing Manager. “The Assurance Fuel Max with Fuel Saving Technology® is engineered with a unique tread compound which significantly reduces the energy needed to keep the tyres rotating, so less effort is required to keep the car moving; hence less petrol is consumed by the vehicle.”
"Goodyear has an unparalleled track record of developing leading edge tyre technologies, and is always working to develop new and innovative products for consumers. We know that as consumers look to ease the pressure on their hip pocket in the face of the carbon tax, the Fuel Max certainly has a part to play," said continued Mr Vincent.
As further testament to the Assurance Fuel Max’s fuel-saving abilities, the tyre was recently announced as original equipment on Ford’s brand new four-cylinder Falcon EcoBoost, helping to deliver overall fuel efficiency, reduced CO2 emissions, outstanding performance and affordability.

The Assurance Fuel Max has also won numerous awards across Asia Pacific, such as the “Greenest Tyre of the Year” (Auto News, China), “Best Car Tyre of the Year” (Auto News, China), Tyre of the Year (Motor Trend, China) and “Product of the Year – Tyre Innovation” (Product of the Year, India).
“Independent testing has shown that the Fuel Saving Technology® can lead to a cash savings for the customer¹. Basically, this tyre has been designed to keep more fuel in your tank, and more money in your wallet!”

The tyre tread compound featured in the Assurance Fuel Max was developed at the molecular level to yield improvements in rolling resistance whilst retaining or even enhancing tread life and traction over its predecessor.

“In addition to the Fuel Saving Technology®, the tyre also provides the superior grip and handling necessary for both wet and dry conditions, as well as an extended tread life,” Mr Vincent added.
Key features of the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max include:
 Fuel saving tread compound – silica tread compound provides high abrasion resistance and low intra-molecular friction, resulting in reduced fuel consumption and a longer tread life;
 DuPont™ Kevlar® reinforced construction – maintains stiffness and strength even under high temperature conditions when the tyre is in motion, giving drivers added protection against road hazards;
 Even pressure distribution – provides even pressure distribution across the width of the tyre, reducing frictional energy at the tread surface and increasing tread life. Having a wide footprint also enables increased wearable rubber in contact with the road resulting in longer wear.
