Goodyear Autocare’s WoF inspection is a regular vehicle safety check to ensure general light vehicles, such as passenger cars, vans and 4WDs meet minimum safety standards required in New Zealand.

During a WoF inspection, our tyre and auto experts check several safety-related aspects of your vehicle that are set out in the Vehicle Inspection Requirements Manual (VIRM) and cover:

Basic vehicle structure & condition:

• No rust that affects structural integrity
• No damage or deterioration affecting safety

Lights and indicators:

• Headlights, brake lights, indicators, tail lights, and number plate lights are all working and aligned

Tyres:

• Tread depth is at least 1.5mm, the minimum allowable depth
• No cuts, bulges, or uneven wear is present

Brakes:

• Functionality and condition of brake pads, discs, and overall operation of the braking system meet requirements

Steering and suspension:

• Steering components and shock absorbers are checked for wear or damage

Seat belts and airbags:

• All seat belts and airbags (if fitted) are in good condition and working properly

Windscreen washers and wipers:

• No significant cracks or chips are in the driver’s line of sight
• Wipers clean effectively
• Washers function correctly

Mirrors and glass:

• Mirrors are secure and provide a clear view
• Windows are not excessively tinted or damaged

Exhaust and fuel system:

• No leaks are present
• Exhaust is not smoky or louder than the original exhaust system

Battery and electrical systems:

• Battery is secure, no wiring is exposed

General:

• Doors open and close securely
• Horn functions appropriately
• Speedometer works accurately
