Our History

A History of Movement

Since the beginning, our mission has simply been to never stop moving. To never stop exploring, iterating and trying new things. From the driverless cars of the future, to getting better traction on Mars, we are not just putting tires on your car, we’re putting technology into motion.

Goodyear started its New Zealand operations in 1917 and manufactured tyres at our Upper Hutt factory from 1949 to 2006.

Over the decades, we established ourselves as a trusted brand among New Zealand motorists, known for innovation, durability, and performance across a wide range of vehicles – from passenger cars to commercial fleets.

In 2016, we opened our first Goodyear Autocare, which has developed into a trusted network of tyre retail and service outlets, offering tyre fitting, maintenance, and vehicle servicing on the South and North Islands.

With over 100 years on New Zealand roads, Goodyear remains a name generations have trusted to keep them moving.

Through the years, the blimp has appeared at marquee events, from the Olympics to the first Super Bowl, been featured in famous songs, movies and television shows.
